I am not a professional installer. I am not a professionally designed box, box or the manufacturer or a guru with an amplifier configuration. I'm not much, if not more, than the regular. So keep in mind, the famous SI Mag D2 does not receive the royal treatment today. Only two sealed boxes of different designs.
(Second) EQUIPMENT:
Alpine CDA 9807
YES May 15 D2 "
Orion 1200D
1992 Ford Taurus sedan
Woofer (cosmetics):
Pinnacle D2 Mag two years of R & D Integrity Stereo. Blah blah blah blah ... It 'great! Huge! 15 "version weighs almost 40 pounds. I feel like I was raised in a basket and carry it around. I need to push the arm and take a ferry as a child from place to place. It seems that using the standard motor protruding, I see a copper coil around the fomer through ventilation holes in the basket. It 'looks very solid. suspension feels very smooth, and even if the cone is pressed. The only oddity is Chrome. I've never been a fan of chrome.
Install (Part 1):
The first installation of a design based on BUT NOT TRUE that "reverse wedge" design Decware:. Http: / / www.decware.com / newsite / invertedwedge.htm available for $ 10 In my opinion, I spread half of the box 32 ", maintaining the angle of the corner. I also raised the Board under Initially 2 "on the ground and is 6" of soil to allow the limits xmax. The box was about 3 cubic feet internally. The wall closest to the deflector (green wall in the diagram) was double thickness. Reinforcements in the box was limited. (Important detail here) See the attachment for the design I used. Read on to decide if you want to try it.
LISTEN (PART 1):
Listening to this case I used a lot of random pieces of rock and metal CDs that I own. Including but not limited to Lacuna Coil, Dimmu Borgir, In Flames, Immortal Souls, Dream Evil, Iced Earth, Old Man's Child, and Tristan.
The woofer is a monster down! Indeed, it has been very low. I have never heard a low range, as this combo box / woofer played. Music should not have fallen below the level of normal hearing on guiter suddenly boomed in the level I can only subsonic. The same low has no impact at all. In other tests, I found the box was folded ... very, very bad. Flex had a serious impact on production, but the bottom played so far, I'm happy not to have more. The only way I found to get music to play on it was to establish a 33Hz subsonic filter variable Q in the woofer to eliminate some of the most under it played. Even then, it was a little less than I expected. Yes, sounds great, it just was not good as I expected amazing.
OUTPUT (Part 1):
The production was ... disappointing. I reset my winnings to the place where I loved and listened again, and that something was not right. I asked, open my bag, and again in the box deflected somethin 'fierce. KILLER TOTAL OUTPUT Right there. Better installer will take time and equipment to shine in the cabinet, or just double on the walls. I did not really dislocate and left the cabinet for the garage.
Total (Part 1):
This site and the woofer, for those with a taste for the low end, to satisfy all your needs and more, but you must make your own way with how to build and strengthen the cabinet. Serious, serious home theater speaker with a potential very important.
INSTALLATION (PART 2):
The second installation was a reference from the first box. It follows the simple strategy of a plain sealed tightly bound and is calculated around two cubes after moving and bracing, it could be used as a universal standard against some of my other exclusive designs. Photos of this box can be found here: http://www.epicrevival.net/projects/box/
Listening (Part 2):
The sealed box uses the same music, the same amplifier gain and LPF, and the same woofer. The difference is intense! The music is much higher, a gain of 4-6 dB, if my ears and my car stereo 2dB / cross is to be trusted. The music sounds like music again! Transient are transient, and kick bass kick. Each bass line, I run well managed. I do not know what to say beyond, after the gain by ear at the low end of the music is right there, completely transparent to my PPC Rainbow.
However, not everything is perfect. The woofer is struggling with the altitude. I put my cross low in the range of 90Hz to help with functions for medium-low. The Mag is not just made to manage these new businesses and maintaining a well managed deadline too fast for the guitars I play, regardless of the setting of crossover.
OUTPUT (Part 2):
The output is rather expensive, even from the bottom of the speaker. I have not heard any of the peaks that I know that I found (Thanks, Ford Motor Company) And the power is well above the previous case. Subwoofer seems to be two cubes in the face of avant-garde that I miss so much, that my LIS IA provided easily.
TOTAL (Part 2):
The woofer will provide the musical needs of all types of music in the cabinet right closed. It is just that, a woofer music. If music is for books, you can expect it to book. If the music requires low bass, you get the bass low. The woofer is playing what he gave, no more, no less. This is something of a music lover can appreciate. It is only the lack of ability to play higher than the lower normal that I still need too excited.
9 / 10. Excellent woofer own if you want to go sealed. If she played about 25% higher, I would give him a perfect score. Perhaps a better facility for the high end, but I do not think the installer again.
